diamonds & swine flu

what can make a case of the swine flu seem less than sucky? an AWESOME custom ring!

my friend erin (the 'e' of 'e + j') finally got her engagement ring. joe actually asked her to marry him in november and would have had a ring sooner, but you can't just go to the diamond store and pick out a solitaire for erin. no, actually she needed something awesome, funky, elegant, and timeless. quite like she is.

so this ring has a history. a long time ago, erin & i went to the county fair in georgia (think rickety ferris wheels and giant turkey legs). there were booths of junk jewelry and erin decided she needed to drop $35 on a tiffany's replica. ok, so i thought that was a lot, but seeing how she's worn it almost daily for the past 4 or 5 years, repaired it, replated it, and used it as a stand-in engagement ring for the past few months, i would say it was worth the money.

she & joe had a real engagement ring designed from the replica and while i haven't seen it in person, it is stunning in the photograph! can't wait for their wedding sometime this year!

pb.10 elisabeth millay | my favorites

elisabeth millay

first, her name is so pretty. second, her images are divine. third, she lives in NYC which makes for some amazing settings. but she doesn't stick just close to home; also hired for destinations near and far.

the recent snow storm that blanketed new york? she managed to make it look different and interesting and beautiful.

it might be that we share a name, or it seems she has an affinity for things purple and pretty, or all her photos seem so delicate. whatever the case, i thoroughly enjoy pouring over her work and you would too!

pb.9 angelica glass | my favorites

missed a week of posting my favorites, but hey, i was in alabama doing my real job, computerless. by the way, if you've never visited alabama, here's what you could expect:

- stopping at the waffle house off 1-20 on your way to birmingham and having every single person in the joint (all male) turn and STARE at you
- getting sweat tea and shrimp-n-grits for a business lunch
- checking into your hotel just in time for the fried chicken hour (think wine & cheese hour, but with fried bird)

no lie.

ok, on to my next installment of my favorites: the ultra-fabulous angelica glass.

my sister found her whilst researching awesomeness on the internet. angelica's style is quite unlike anyone i've seen. these words come to mind: colors, sexy, lush, unusual, ridiculous (in a good way), sassy, different, sexy, crazy, sigh, and sometimes speechless.

weddings .. engagements ... day after

she makes people look good. she inspires photographers. i'm sure she has fun. isn't that what it's about?

cute kids + snow | family

as luck would have it, i move from chicago and the snow just follows me down to atlanta. i'd say we got 3" starting friday around noon and going through the evening. if i hadn't just had the coldest freaking winter of my life, i might have been excited. but my niece and nephew were reeeally excited and even though i only had my nikon point-n-shoot with me, i got a couple of pictures of 'em playing.

sweet dreams | family

i went over to my sister's house the other day during the all-important quiet hours of nap time. she said i could take pictures as long as i didn't wake the kids up. they were so freakin cute; i wondered what they were dreaming about. probably tractors or ice cream...
